Keep Moving On

In a town in the northern part of Ontairo there is one way of life. Mushing. Where dogs are valued as high as people and technology has yet to match the heart of the sled teams. The people, the dogs, the place, they all keep moving on.

PostSubject: Will they come back?   Fri Jul 13, 2007 3:56 pm

A human couple came to the pound, with a cream and goldish tan colored husky near them. They aproached the house, and knocked the door. The husky, by the name of Saida, looked around her surroundings as her owner conversated with another human. She let her tongue out, and panted. The place seemed as familiar, like that scary story her mother told her when she was a pup. " If you don't behave, the humans will take you to the pound. It's a place where dogs are put in cages, and if they stay there too long, people will kill them." She had behaved ever since. She looked exactly like her father, with her mother's coloring. Her owners handed the leash to the man, and obediently she followed. She looked back, and saw her owners crying. Lots of dogs were there, and the human put her in a kennel, or cage. Then he took of her collar, and leash.

She lapped up some water, not very thirsty, for her owners had given her a good meal back at home. " Her last meal will be a nice descent meal." Her woman said, she was expecting in a few months, and it was Saida's duty to take care of the baby, or so she thought. She shivered, as now she knew that this was the pound, but she just waited at the door of her kennel, waiting for her owners to return.

Natalya walked into the pound with a leash in her hand and a parka on her head. She stared with at the kennels as she walked by. Glancing over each paper for their names only. Breed never matters. She walked past Saida's kennel before reversing her steps and kneeling to be face-to-face with the dog.

"Hello." Natalya said slowly as she stared at the dog. "Saida..." She tested out the name. It rolled off the tongue and she looked at the price. "Hmmm..." She mumbled in thought. 'Nice build.' She thought to herself. 'Could make a good swing...Have to see how she'll do in the harness.'

She stood up and turned away to pay for the dog. "I would like Saida." She paid and waited for the man who handled the dogs to put a collar on the Alaskan Husky. Natalya attached the leash to the collar and walked out of the pound. "Welcome to the family Saida." She told Saida as if she understood. "I think you'll like it here." And with a grin she walked towards her house.

Saida watched as a female human walked passed her. She stood up and tried to see her, but she came back, and checked the husky. When the human spoke to her, she twitched her ear, and cocked the head. The man that led her to the cage came back, and put a collar around her. The woman led her out of the pound, "Welcome to the family, Saida." She wagged her tail, she'd been adopted, but would miss her old family.
